Doing our part…
Ivy Cares is a new endeavor started by the founder of Ivy’s Tea Co., Shanae Jones. Ivy Cares is a philanthropic venture that will support organizations that invest in marginalized communities with the goal of collective uplift. We started on February 1, 2019 in honor of Black History Month with the desire to celebrate present-day history making contributions of underrepresented people. Follow us on this journey. About Ivy Cares: Fundraiser 002
Ivy Cares is working on its second community focused event. On Sunday, May 12, we’re hosting a homecoming party for Black mothers being bailed out of jail for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, not every Black mother will be bailed out of jail, so we’re collecting love letters for those mothers. These love letters will encourage them, showing them they’re loved and valued. We invite you to write a letter to a Black mother, who will be forced to spend Mother’s Day in jail, away from her children(ren) and loved ones.
Not much of a writer? No problem. You can support the DMV chapter of the National Bail Out, which works to reunite families and end money bail, by making a donation to #FreeBlackMamasDMV campaign here.
About Our Founder
Shanae Jones is the herbalist and founder of Ivy’s Tea Co., a pop culture and Hip-Hop inspired herbal tea company. With Ivy’s Tea Co. she makes herbalism more relatable and brings first time tea drinkers to the holistic health beverage industry using Hip-Hop culture as a vehicle to build relationships with customers as well as those interested in herbal tea and herbalism. She is a graduate of Bowie State University and Sky House Herb School; has graduated from accelerator programs, The Black UpStart and 1863 Ventures; and is the first recipient of The Buy From A Black Woman Business Grant. Shanae has been featured in Madame Noire, Black Enterprise, and World Tea News. When she’s not blending tea, she’s foraging for herbs or memorizing Migos ad-libs (it’s really hard work).
